2 Hours of Cake

Hopefully that title didn't scare you off! ;)

I hit a snag yesterday and decided to write about it.

Have you ever ... sliced little pieces off of leftovers and tiny bit by tiny bit eaten a whole lot?

Me too!

DD21 who is getting married in less than a month (!!) and her fiance made a gluten-free cake on the weekend as a practice run with fondant for the wedding day.  They plan on serving regular cake with coffee after dinner but they plan to serve those who can't eat gluten (including me) GF cake - and use that one for cake-cutting photos too.  So working ahead was a great idea...

EXCEPT .. the "trial" cake was at our home.

Just sitting there, after our family get-together dinner and evening on Sunday.

And calling my name.

I've never had fondant before and DD made this fondant with marshmallows (I have learned that I really like marshmallows).

Anyway, I was telling DD about my "cake incident" yesterday and couldn't explain how much I'd eaten.  But then I realized that when I started, the cake looked like 7 hours on the clock.  After my "little slivers" (over and over) it looks more like 5 hours.  I "ate" 2 hours of cake!

Ugh.

So I took a photo of the 5 "hours" left and told both daughters that I was done with eating the cake.

One thing I know about myself is that I am very serious about my word.  If I say it, I do it (or don't do it).

(I suggested that we put the cake into the freezer but DD's want to eat it, hence my promise.)

So here's my promise to you (and, in turn, to myself) - I'm done with the 2 "hours" of cake.  Although it tastes yummy, enough is enough.

You have my word.

Good for you for saying 'no more' when you realized what was happening. I'm sure you'll keep your word.

I also do much better when I say things out loud. In fact, if I DON'T want to be held to something, I notice I just "think" the right thing but don't say it out loud. Can't be held accountable that way! LOL Two whole hours of cake... heaven! Kidding. I know you feel miserable for it. Been there, done that!
