As you can see from my pedometer steps chart, I haven't been meeting my goals. It hasn't been as easy to get walks in when foster baby is gone for visits - because then I tend to do the housework, and, especially at this time of year, yard work. A whole morning of cutting the grass doesn't net me a whole lot of "aerobic steps" but I sure get a workout! So what I'm really saying is that my pedometer isn't telling the whole story!
Take today, for instance (and yesterday, for that matter). DH is home on vacation this week and we've been working on a new pathway -- which is badly needed. We've lived here for 13 years and we still have the pathetic pathway that we had before...it did it's job, but it's time for an upgrade. The old pathway was small and in the wrong spot, especially in the winter. We're extending it so that visitors can get on it from almost the end of our driveway -- since they are reluctant to walk across our grass, even if we don't mind! I understand that - I wouldn't do it either, but going all the way around is a pain. In the winter - with piles of snow - it's a real pain. Plus it's time for something attractive! :)
But back to my steps and exercise...although my pedometer doesn't show it, I've been exhausted at bedtime. I have been digging mud and gravel and hauling this and that - great, great exercise. I can feel it on my upper body as well as my legs. I've been hungry. I've been sweaty. But I still haven't hit 10,000 steps on a given day.
So TAKE THAT pedometer! ;)
And, with our Little One here - I've been hauling 15+ lbs. of baby around - in and out of the car seat and up the stairs for diaper changes and naps. THAT doesn't show on my pedometer either.
Life is good - different, but good.
Our grandson is now 13+ lbs. (1 month old!) -- he's not fat but totally solid. He will be a big boy for sure. Probably tall like his mom and uncles. And, of course, he's cute! Starting to smile and coo!
